Disposing of a half cut

Once you’ve completed your engine conversion you’ll be left with the bulky shell of your half cut.

Unfortunately you can’t just stuff the shell into your wheelie bin or put it out for kerbside collection, but there are a few ways to get the half cut shell out of your garage or shed.

Chop it!

If you have access to a plasma cutter or even just an angle grinder, it is possible to cut your half cut shell into more manageable pieces.  You still might not be able to get it into your wheelie bin, but at least you’ll be able to get it to the local tip in a box trailer.

Car body collections

There are plenty of services that will come and collect old cars and car bodies, but many of them won’t be so keen to collect your half shell of a car.

If you’re struggling to find a car body collection service that will come out, try offering them $50 for their trouble and your luck might change.

Recycle it

If you can get your hands on a car trailer or other large trailer, you can take your half cut shell to a local metal recycling depot.  Don’t expect to receive any more than a few dollars for the scrap metal, but at least it gets rid of the shell.
